Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel produced by bacteria of the genus Streptococcus. It is biotechnically produced by natural fermentation in a sterile laboratory environment. This significantly reduces the risk of spreading disease between species or triggering allergic reactions in patients with sensitivities to common foods such as beef, chicken and eggs. Restylane does not require any allergy or skin testing prior to injection.
Restylane is indicated for medium to deep dermal implants for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds. Restylane is also indicated for submucosal implantation in patients over the age of 21 for lip augmentation.
Restylane is formulated as a clear gel and uses a dual mechanism of action to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Once injected just below the skin's surface, Restylane Gel integrates into the dermal tissue and then attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume. Restylane is gradually degraded by the body's own mechanisms and disappears without any residue. Results can be seen immediately after Restylane treatment for up to six months. Depending on the injection site, some patients may experience results lasting more than six months.
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel produced by bacteria of the genus Streptococcus. Contrary to other hyaluronic acid products, NASHA is not derived from animal sources. It is biotechnically produced by natural fermentation in a sterile laboratory environment. Restylane does not require any allergy or skin testing prior to injection.
Restylane is also marketed and sold in over 65 countries outside the United States, where it has been used in over ten million programs.
