Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel produced by bacteria in the genus Streptococcus. It is bioproduced by natural fermentation in a sterile laboratory environment. This greatly reduces the risk of disease spreading between species or triggering an allergic reaction in patients sensitive to common foods such as beef, chicken and eggs. Rislin does not require any allergy or skin tests before injection.
Restylane is suitable for use in mid to deep dermal implants to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is also indicated for use in submucosal implants for lip augmentation in patients over 21 years of age.
